The Image Mill by Robert Lepage… the best seats from the windows of STIL Casing Solution, in Québec !

24 july 2009 by Frederic Lapointe

STIL Casing Solution situated in Québec City (QC, Canada) is in the heart of the action of this beautiful city, from the windows of our office at 76 Saint-Paul Street, you can see The Image Mill !

The Image Mill is an architectural projection produced and performed, in Quebec City, by Robert Lepage and Ex Machina. Representing the largest projection ever done, it requires the use of fine technology to project a huge quantity of images and films on the grain silos of the Quebec Harbour, an oversized screen, 600 feet wide by 30 meters high! In the hands of the creators, this huge mass of concrete is in constant transformation, which gives us the strange impression of it being alive and talking to us. Leaving the usual clichés behind, we discover the fascinating history of Quebec City with its upheavals, its controversies, and its great political and popular moments.

Also from our windows you can see the Pavillon Espace 400e who, this summer, gives us the honour of having BODIES… The Exhibition! This Exhibition–which features actual human specimens–allows people of all ages access to sights and knowledge normally reserved only for medical professionals. Take the opportunity to peer inside yourself, to better understand how your elaborate and fascinating body works, and how you can become a more informed participant in your own health care.

If you leave our building and take a few steps east you can watch the breathtaking show from the Cirque du Soleil – Les Chemins Invisibles under the overpass of Dufferin-Montmoreny Highway. Throughout Les Chemins Invisibles, members of the Brumes, Brasiers and Sables tribes (the Fog, Fire and Sands tribes) reveal the richness of the blend of cultures and artistic genres when they meet with another tribe, the Embarrassants. These street performers invite the public to four rendez-vous in the heart of downtown Quebec City. The Cirque du Soleil is really spoiling us this year by giving us their extraordinary show OVO! OVO is a headlong rush into a colourful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. The insects’ home is a world of biodiversity and beauty filled with noisy action and moments of quiet emotion.

Old Quebec is a masterpiece of preserved history!  A walled city poised above the beautiful St. Laurence River, come see for yourself!
